The DFA database was compiled between 1996 and 1998 by Jack Dreisbach (think of the state of computers at that time!). Letters were sent out by snail mail to as many people as possible who were somehow connected to the Dreisbach family. They were asked to write up their family trees, with documentation if they had any, and send the information back. From the response both the online data base and The Dreisbach Book were compiled.
About 2001, the first Dreisbach Family Association website was made and a vast amount of genealogical data was added to it. There were subsequent revisions and additions during the next few years, but by 2004 the website was no longer actively maintained. As an 'archival site', the original DFA website site can still be accessed but many of the links are broken. This site is NO LONGER IN USE and cannot be updated. It will sometimes come up in a search - there is nothing we can do about this. This OLD, INCORRECT DATABASE is at:
In 2007 Linda McCoy took over as webmistress. She initiated the present DFA website and migrated much of the material from the 'original DFA website' to the current one. However there was no simple way to add information to the database.
The DFA website in it's latest innovation is hosted by Tribal Pages and can be reached at:
